Terrabis is moving closer to offering drive-thru cannabis pickup at its Plainfield dispensary after receiving approval from the Village Board. The location has also expanded its customer access by accepting Illinois medical cannabis cardholders.
The board approved a special use permit in a 4-3 vote, allowing the dispensary to utilize the existing drive-thru at its property located at 16020 S. Illinois Route 59. The building previously operated as a Hardee’s before being converted into a cannabis retail location.
Under the approved plan, customers will be required to place their cannabis orders online before arriving. Dispensary employees will verify customer identification at the drive-thru window before releasing orders.
In addition to the planned drive-thru service, the Plainfield location now accepts registered medical cannabis patients, expanding access beyond adult-use recreational customers.
Although the village has approved the drive-thru proposal, the service is not ready to begin operating just yet. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation must still complete an inspection before the drive-thru can officially open.
Once operational, the proposed drive-thru hours will be:
- Sunday and Monday: 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Tuesday through Saturday: 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM
The approval represents another development in Illinois cannabis retail as dispensaries continue exploring ways to make purchasing more convenient. Between expanded access for medical patients and the addition of drive-thru pickup, Terrabis is making changes to its Plainfield operation that could appeal to a wider customer base.
For now, customers will have to wait for state regulators to complete the required inspection before drive-thru service officially launches.
