I recently picked up a half ounce of California Roll by A1ZA from Information Entropy in New Buffalo. This was my first time trying anything from A1ZA, but I’ve learned to trust Information Entropy when it comes to carrying quality flower. I originally went in planning to grab some of their house flower, but they were out and a few days away from the next drop, so I decided to switch it up and give this a shot.
California Roll is a cross of (Lemon Cherry Gelato x Zushi) x Lit OG, and right away it checked a lot of boxes for me terp wise. Cracking the jar, I was hit with the aroma of those fruity Z terps I’m a big fan of, backed by some gassy and slightly piney notes that gave it a nice pungent smell. As far as the taste, that fruity aroma came through nicely, with the sweet and tangy Z terps up front and the gas and light pine flavor on the backend. Physically, the nugs were beautiful,with a dense, squishy, and sticky feel that was exactly what I was looking for.
Effects wise, it gave off a nice balanced high. It started with an uplifting, focusing head buzz that made it great for getting some work done or focusing in on some video games, and then mellowed into a relaxing body high without much couch locking effects. It is the kind of smoke that works well for daytime or early evening without slowing you down too much but won’t exactly give you a pick up as a wake and bake.
Overall, California Roll by A1ZA ended up being a really solid pickup, especially since I was wanting to grab some IE flower. Great terp profile, well structured nugs, and potent but functional effects made this a worthwhile grab. For a first experience with the brand, it definitely left a good impression, and I’d be open to checking out more from A1ZA in the future.
