United Center Makes History as First Major U.S. Arena to Sell Hemp Derived THC Drinks

Chicago just poured itself into the history books.

The United Center has officially become the first major arena in the United States to offer hemp derived THC beverages at concerts, sporting events, and live entertainment. The move signals a major cultural shift away from alcohol only venues and toward more inclusive, wellness forward options for adults looking to enjoy a buzz without the booze.

Through a new multi year partnership with Chicago based cannabis brands Señorita and RYTHM, fans aged 21 and over can now legally purchase THC infused drinks inside one of the most iconic arenas in the country.

Hemp Derived THC Drinks Replace Sneaking Gummies

For years, cannabis consumers attending games or concerts were forced to get creative, hiding gummies in pockets, socks, or wherever security would not look. That era is officially over.

Instead, United Center guests can now openly purchase hemp derived THC beverages at 24 points of sale throughout the venue, including seven grab and go stations, 16 full service bars, and a Señorita branded mobile bar. These drinks will be available at basketball games, concerts, comedy shows, and other major live events.

What THC Drinks Are Available at United Center

The initial beverage lineup includes flavorful cocktail inspired options from Señorita alongside a citrus forward drink from RYTHM. All beverages contain 5 mg of hemp derived THC, keeping dosing approachable and consistent.

Available drinks include Señorita Lime Jalapeño Margarita, Mango Margarita, and Grapefruit Paloma, as well as RYTHM Sativa Mandarin Orange. Each beverage is non alcoholic and made with federally legal hemp derived THC, offering a hangover free alternative to beer, wine, and spirits.

A Cali Sober Shift Toward THC Beverages

As someone who identifies as Cali sober, I have personally found myself enjoying THC beverages more than traditional edibles lately, especially in social settings. Drinks offer a familiar experience, something to sip on while out and about without reaching for alcohol.

Compared to edibles, THC beverages often feel more manageable and situational, fitting naturally into concerts, games, or nights out with friends. Being able to enjoy a non alcoholic drink that still delivers a cannabis experience is a big reason these beverages are resonating with more adults right now.

Why This Partnership Matters

According to RYTHM leadership, the decision reflects a growing demand for non alcoholic options at major venues.

Bringing Señorita and RYTHM to the United Center reflects a simple truth, consumers want non alcoholic options, and leading venues are responding, said Ben Kovler, chairman and interim CEO of RYTHM, Inc.

United Center Chief Operating Officer Joe Myhra emphasized the fan experience, noting that the goal is to expand how attendees enjoy live entertainment.

A Necessary Clarification on GTI

It is important to be clear, we do not support GTI or Green Thumb Industries or their broader role in shaping the Illinois cannabis market. GTI, the parent company behind RYTHM, represents a corporate cannabis structure that often prioritizes scale and profit over equity, craft operators, and consumer first practices.

That said, this moment is still worth highlighting.

Regardless of the corporate players involved, introducing hemp derived THC beverages into a major U.S. arena is a significant step toward normalizing cannabis use in everyday public spaces. It challenges outdated stigmas, expands non alcoholic options for adults, and pushes cannabis further into the cultural mainstream. Progress does not have to be perfect to be meaningful, and moments like this still move the culture forward.

Launch Events and Giveaways in February

To celebrate the historic rollout, Señorita and RYTHM will host giveaways and non infused samples at two February shows. The New Edition Way Tour on February 4 featuring New Edition, Boyz II Men, and Toni Braxton, and the Life Is a Highway Tour on February 6 featuring Rascal Flatts, Lauren Alaina, and Chris Lane.

The brands will continue offering samples and merchandise giveaways at select events following the initial launch.

THC Beverages Are Entering the Mainstream

This announcement arrives as more adults actively reduce their alcohol consumption. THC beverages, particularly hemp derived options, are gaining traction as a more controlled and hangover free alternative. These drinks are no longer niche, now appearing on shelves at mainstream retailers and inside one of the largest arenas in the country.

Uncertainty Around the Future of Hemp Derived THC

Despite their rapid growth, hemp derived THC products face ongoing regulatory uncertainty. A Trump approved federal hemp ban is expected to take effect later this year, potentially threatening products like THC beverages. However, even Congress own policy analysts have raised questions about whether such a ban would be enforceable.

Based on recent developments, including this historic partnership, it appears that major brands and venues see a path forward for hemp derived THC, regardless of political headwinds.

A Glimpse Into the Future of Live Entertainment

The United Center move is more than a novelty, it is a signal. Cannabis, particularly hemp derived THC, is continuing its shift into mainstream spaces. For Chicago, this moment may mark the beginning of a new standard for how live events are experienced.
