Over the past year, Couch Lock’d has continued to grow as a podcast, media platform, and event space rooted in real cannabis culture and community. But in 2025, one thing became increasingly clear: staying active on Instagram under the Couch Lock’d name was becoming harder and harder.
Repeated reports, account restrictions, and removals made it difficult to consistently show up on the platform in the way we always have. Instead of spending our energy fighting algorithm battles and risking total shutdowns, we made the decision to adapt, without compromising our values or the work we’ve built.
That’s where The Burn Circle comes in.
What Is The Burn Circle?
The Burn Circle is a community rooted in shared smoke, real conversation, and showing up for one another.
It represents the same spirit Couch Lock’d has always stood for, but with a clearer separation between culture and community and product-focused content. The Burn Circle exists as a space to bring people together, online and in real life, through conversation, humor, events, and shared experiences.
Why the Change?
Instagram has become increasingly hostile toward cannabis-related content, especially when it involves product imagery or brand promotion. In 2025, that pressure made it difficult to maintain a stable presence under the Couch Lock’d banner.
Rather than disappear or water things down, we chose to restructure:
- The Burn Circle will be our primary presence on Instagram
- That account will focus on:
- Memes
- Cannabis culture
- Conversation
- Community moments
- Event promotion
- Product showcases, reviews, and brand features will live where they belong:
- Right here on the Couch Lock’d website
- On our YouTube channel
- Within long-form podcast content
This separation allows us to stay visible, consistent, and connected without constantly risking takedowns.
What’s Not Changing
It’s important to be clear about this:
- Couch Lock’d is not going away
- The podcast remains Couch Lock’d
- Our YouTube channel, reviews, interviews, and articles stay the same
- Events like Baked Bingo are still powered by the same team and values
- Patreon supporters are still supporting the same work
The Burn Circle isn’t a replacement, it’s an extension. A way to protect the ecosystem we’ve built and keep our community growing.
Looking Ahead
Cannabis media has always required adaptability, especially for independent platforms that don’t have corporate backing. This move gives us room to breathe, create, and stay present without compromising who we are.
Couch Lock’d will continue doing what it does best: honest reviews, real conversations, and platforming the brands and people we actually believe in.
The Burn Circle is simply where the community gathers.
