Yesterday marked the second annual Best in Grass competition, an event that brings together Illinois MSOs and craft cultivators in a true test of quality, consistency, and skill. Brands across the state submitted entries for judge kits that featured everything from sativa, indica, and hybrid flower to solvent and solventless concentrates, vapes, and edibles. It’s one of the few events where consumers, judges, and industry heads get a direct look at who’s really putting in the work.
And this year, one craft grower stood out in a big way.
Redemption Botanicals, easily one of my favorite craft producers in Illinois, walked away with a stacked list of awards. The team, known for bringing respected brands like DNA Genetics, Preferred Gardens, Beezle, and Dr. Greenthumb to the Illinois market, continues to prove why they’re a force in the state’s cannabis scene.

Every one of these wins is well-earned. Since launching in Illinois, Redemption has consistently delivered clean, flavorful, high-quality products that actually reflect the hype behind them. I’ve yet to try anything from their lineup that fell short, and that’s rare in this market. Their passion for the plant, and for the culture surrounding it, shows in every drop of rosin, every nug, and every single collaboration they roll out.
