A familiar face in Illinois has officially entered the Michigan market, and it’s one of Couch Lock’d’s go to’s, Ravioli. Ravioli has been one of our favorite Illinois brands since they entered the market, so seeing them expand into Michigan definitely caught my attention as a mainly Michigan shopper. I grabbed this at New Standard in Saugatuck Michigan but have been seeing in pop up on menus throughout the state and is available at a couple spots in New Buffalo.
They have the same fun bags that they have in Illinois but with this one being purple. I really wanted to see if the quality inside the bag met my higher expectations for Ravioli flower as I feel they are one of the few brands out there that has amusing packaging and marketing while still having a top tier product. The Purple Ravioli bags contain Grape Runtz, which was perfect for the runtz kick ive been on lately.
Upon opening the bag, the aroma jumped right out with a sweet and fruity smell up front and with a heavy gas on the back that screams a quality batch of Runtz. That gas was really the dominant smell of this flower, but with that sweet fruitiness was still very present and blended perfectly together. This carried over very nicely to the flavor with the gassy flavor really taking off and the sweet frutiness being a little bit more noticeable up front than the aroma
Appearance wise, the nugs were full sized and dense, with 3 nugs making up the 8th. The buds had dark purple hues mixed into deep greens and bright orange hairs popping throughout, and a nice layer of trichomes that gave everything a nice sparkle. It looked properly cured and handled with care.
Effects wise, this one leaned into that classic Runtz style balanced high for me. It started with a euphoric, mood elevating head high that felt uplifting and focusing. It settled into a relaxing and soothing body buzz that was not overly sedating, but definitely brought on a calming and physically relieving buzz, making it a nice smoke for anytime of the day in my opinion
Overall, Purple Ravioli by Ravioli made a strong first impression for me and I’d love to see them take off in the Michigan market. This bag proved to me again that not only does the Ravioli team have fun with their marketing and packaging but they have a quality product to back it up, this grape runtz checked all my boxes for what I’m looking for in a runtz cross with amazing flavor, aroma, and potency.
